Traminette

United States

Traminette is a hybrid grape variety developed at Cornell University, created by crossing Gewürztraminer with Joannes Seyve 23.416. It was bred to combine the aromatic qualities of Gewürztraminer with improved cold hardiness and disease resistance for cultivation in cool climates.

Flavors & Aromas

Floral aromas with notes of lychee, rose petals, and stone fruits. The palate displays tropical fruit flavors, white peach, and subtle spice with a crisp, refreshing finish.

Winemaking & Aging

Produces dry to off-dry white wines with moderate alcohol levels. The grape has good disease resistance and cold hardiness, making it well-suited to cool-climate regions. Wines are typically fresh and aromatic with moderate aging potential of 3-5 years, though they are best enjoyed young to preserve their vibrant fruit character.
