Plavac Mali is a Croatian red grape variety native to the Dalmatian coast, a natural crossing of Crljenak Kaštelanski (the Croatian name for Tribidrag, the variety known internationally as Zinfandel) and Dobričić. This parentage makes Plavac Mali genetically the offspring of Zinfandel rather than its ancestor, a relationship confirmed by DNA testing. It is the basis of Dingač and Postup, two of Croatia's most prized reds, grown on steep south-facing slopes of the Pelješac peninsula.
