It is widely cultivated across Europe and North America, with particularly renowned expressions from Alsace, Italy, and Oregon. In Italy the same grape is called Pinot Grigio, where it is made in a leaner, crisper style — particularly in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige — that differs markedly from the full-bodied, often off-dry Alsatian interpretation.
