Petite Sirah, correctly Durif, is a dark-skinned variety bred in the 1860s by French botanist François Durif as a cross of Peloursin and Syrah. Never widely adopted in France, it found its home in California, where it produces deeply colored, full-bodied reds and has become a signature regional style.
